Northeast Milton Avenue off 82nd Avenue has become a microcosm of Portland’s ongoing battle with record gun violence, homelessness, drug dealing and addiction and sex trafficking. Four men have been shot and killed along the 8200 block of Milton since last August.

Thousands gathered and marched in downtown Portland on Friday, June 24, 2022, to protest the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a federally protected right to abortion. The Supreme Court ended constitutional protections for abortion that had been in place nearly 50 years.

Two rallies organized by Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon and a local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, converged Friday night, making speeches at Waterfront Park and Lownsdale Square before marching peacefully through downtown Portland.
