Police identify 42-year-old man fatally shot at NE Portland home

Jesse Woods

He was shot and killed in front of a home in the King neighborhood.

A Portland man killed nearly two weeks ago at a home in the King neighborhood was identified by police Friday as 42-year-old Jesse Bryan Woods.

The medical examiner found Woods died by gunshot and ruled his death was a homicide, police said in a statement.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting around 8:30 p.m. on July 10 in the 4500 block of Northeast 12th Avenue. Woods was dead when officers arrived. The person involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, they said.

Police have not identified that person or released other details.

Residents in the neighborhood said they were shaken and confused by the shooting. Yvette Rosales, 24, told The Oregonian/OregonLive she heard what sounded like four gunshots and saw what appeared to be a victim lying facedown on the stairs leading up to a home across the street.
