Phil Knight Legacy tournament: Oregon State men open against Duke, Beavers women against Iowa

The Oregon State men’s basketball team opens the Phil Knight Legacy tournament against Duke as brackets for the Thanksgiving event in Portland were unveiled Monday.

The Beavers and Blue Devils, scheduled for noon at Memorial Coliseum (ESPN), will play the first of four Legacy games.

The Phil Knight Legacy women’s bracket also was released and the Beavers will play a semifinal game against Iowa at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at the Chiles Center (ESPNU).

OSU’s men play three games in the Legacy, while the women will play two.

Oregon State is 0-2 against Duke all-time, but the schools haven’t faced each other since 1962.

Three more first-round Legacy men’s games are scheduled for Thanksgiving at Memorial Coliseum: Florida vs. Xavier (2:30 p.m.); Purdue vs. West Virginia (7 p.m.); and Portland State vs. Gonzaga (9:30 p.m.).

The Oregon State-Duke winner plays the Florida-Xavier winner at noon on Friday, Nov. 25 at the Moda Center (ESPN). The first-round losers will play at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Moda Center (ESPN2/ESPNU).

The men finish the tournament on Sunday. The championship game will be held at the Moda Center, the third place matchup will be at Memorial Coliseum, and the fifth- and seventh-place games will be at the Chiles Center.

The women’s game on the opposite side of Oregon State’s bracket is Connecticut vs. Duke at 2:30 p.m. at the Chiles Center. The winners play at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Moda Center (KATU). The losers play at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27 at Memorial Coliseum (ESPN2).

Oregon State lost its only game against Iowa in 1988. The Beavers are 1-1 against Duke, and 0-2 against Connecticut.
