Portland’s Hawthorne Bridge will close to all traffic including vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians this weekend for planned inspection and maintenance work.

The closure hours are 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, July 16-17. Contractors will be conducting a survey and inspecting the bridge. Sunday’s work will include the greasing of the bridge’s counterweight cables.

Alternate bridges for detours include the Morrison, Burnside, and Steel. Bicycle and foot traffic can also use Tilikum Crossing. The Hawthorne will still lift for river traffic, if needed.

TriMet bus routes 4 and 14 will need to detour. Check TriMet.org/alerts for details.

Multnomah County maintains the Hawthorne Bridge as well as five other Willamette River bridges. For information visit: multco.us/bridges
